The Peruvians are especially skilled at this kind of link stitching, which gives a wavy texture on both sides of the knit and yields a springy texture. But just as special as the stitch and the provenance is the material… alpaca wool is cool for about a zillion reasons. It s soft and lofty, yes. And incredibly lightweight. Its fibers have a hollow structure that allows it to adapt to your body temperature by retaining heat only when you need it, and wicking away moisture when you don’t. It s naturally antimicrobial, odor-resistant, and also highly renewable… alpacas have a lighter environmental footprint (literally) than hooved animals like sheep and goats, making their wool more sustainable overall than merino or cashmere.
